ANNEKE BLOEMA
Netherlands
Photographer and visual artist Anneke Bloema lives in a small rural village in her beloved province of Drenthe, Netherlands. By the age of 18, photography was a hobby. Gradually, photography became her passion and profession, and in 2001 she founded her own company, The Factory II. In the years after, she started to do more graphic design work, such as collages. Over time, she found a way to tell her stories by using these collage techniques.
In 2020, she started Wondrous Goose, which is synonymous with wonder, imagination, and the power of stories. In these artworks, animals depict human characteristics, dreams, and idiosyncrasies, telling their fairy tales in surreal collages. They inhabit landscapes that Anneke has photographed over the years.
Nowadays, Anneke spends much of her time creating this kind of art. With a vast archive of her own photos, she uses primarily her own images in her storytelling animal artwork. Anneke's work is available as limited prints and postcards, and she accepts commissions if the assignment aligns with her vision.
Wondrous Goose has won several awards at international competitions in recent years.
