Nancy Fouts, born in Seattle in 1945, was a sculptural artist and graphic designer who left a lasting impact on the art world. With a unique combination of humor and surrealism, Fouts transformed everyday objects into thought-provoking sculptures that captivated audiences and earned her widespread recognition. She began her artistic journey at the Chelsea School of Art and later earned her master’s degree at the Royal College of Art. After graduation, she went on to work as a graphic designer, winning numerous awards and collaborating with well-known brands. In 1989, she and her then-husband opened the Fouts and Fowler gallery, which showcased the works of both established and emerging artists.

Her sculptures combined everyday objects, such as vintage cars and human heads, with a touch of whimsy and humor, creating pieces that were not only visually stunning but also thought-provoking. One of her most famous works, "The Great Escape," features a vintage car with legs sticking out of the trunk, as if the car is trying to make a break for it. This piece perfectly embodies Fouts’ signature style, combining the familiar with the unexpected.
