Darian Mederos
Hyper Realistic Artworks That Are Hard to Believe Aren’t Photographs
Cuban artist Darian Rodriguez Mederos is known for his striking and expressive paintings of faces. Despite initially being afraid to paint faces, Mederos has committed himself to exploring this subject matter, and his work is characterized by the light and emotion in the eyes of his subjects.
Mederos currently resides and works in Miami, and received his art education in Havana, Cuba. He considers himself a realist, with a focus on capturing the beauty and complexity of reality in his paintings. He has experimented with slight deformations of facial features, but always remains true to the natural shape of the face. He creates both realist and hyperrealist works, and is known for his relentless pursuit of perfection, despite knowing that true perfection is unattainable.
Mederos' paintings are open to interpretation, as the expressionless faces of his subjects leave room for the viewer to imagine what is behind their eyes. His work is a reflection of his unique perspective on the world, and his ability to convey emotion through the eyes of his subjects.
